Dear Heart@The Movie Theater Mall

Type: FeaturesDistributor: Warner BrothersRating: NRRunning Time: 114 Minutes

Directed by: Delbert M

This is the one of “Hard to find Movies”. Yes, it’s “Dear Heart” in 1964. I wonder if other people were interested in “Dear in their hearts”, like me. While trying to find such a thing, I found Chimale1025 wrote about it. Here it is:

A Movie for Middle Aged Romantics, 8 March 2004Author:
Chimale1025 from Plano, Texas
This is a film about two middle aged people in search of their soul mates. It is a very adult film. Children under 35 usually don't find it very rewarding unless they possess an unusual emotional maturity. I loved it the first time I saw it when I was about 22, but I didn't understand its depths until I was about 38. It shows the despair of lonely singles. It shows the "innocence" of the never attached. A spinster (what an ageist and sexist term) and a not too old jaded and bored bachelor try to make relationships which don't really fit work for them. The efforts they go through and the situations they find themselves in make for a lovely and sweet ride. The resolution is extremely gratifying and not so unrealistic. Its tone, mood and pacing as the two meet and learn about each other build beautifully. I don't want a remake, but I miss movies of this maturity, thought and charm. No glamour, no glitz, no silly gags, no pretty young things, this film shows ordinary people with ordinary problems trying to find someone to love in a world that isn't always kind to people past their "prime". Geraldine Page is revelatory as the slightly ridiculous woman who grows more lovely as the story progresses. Glenn Ford's charms are used to their maximum effect and Angela Landsbury adds the right shrewish tone. This is a must see for people who love a good complicated normal romance. “

Oh! Great! Thank you so much Chimale1025

Besides those, the song “Dear Heart” will never die from my heart. This song is always one of the great songs of Henry Mancini. Although Johnny Mercer didn’t give us his “Great” lyrics like Days of Wine and Roses and Moon River, Ray Evans and Jay Livingston did their best. Here you are!

Criticize a film@The Movie Theater Mall

Once in a while, after you finished watching movie, you may hear or feel like these:

· I enjoyed this film much more than I expected.
· The best film made in the decade of the 90's.
· The action is almost overwhelming; sometimes too much action can be offensive to the senses. An audience needs to breath and this film does not allow us to do that.
· This film is a nice, romantic film that has plenty within it to entertain, amuse and inspire you.
· A really entertaining political romance with two delightful turns from the leads.
· A movie with the power and quality of dreams.
· etc

But wise man said

“The way to criticize a film is to see another film.”

Agree!?!?..........

Young at Heart@The Movie Theater Mall

Fairy tales can come true, it can happen to you
If you’re young at heart…………………..
……………… And if you should survive to 105
Look at all you’ll derive out of being alive
Then here is the best part
You have a head start
If you are among the very young at heart

Yes, it’s a lovely song, isn’t it? I think everyone knows it’s one of Frank Sinatra’s signature songs. The film “Young at Heart (1954)” gave us this beautiful song. According to the film someone said that “This is not a classic film. It won't be on any best of lists. It is simply a wonderful film that you can enjoy when you want to see a good movie.” Another said that “Frank Sinatra and Doris Day are totally believable throughout and compliment each other perfectly. The cast as a whole works very well, the characters are all complex and not over-the-top or dull. In short, it is a perfectly likable film.”

How many people do realize that there’s another beautiful song to help remember the film’s value besides the title song, Frank Sinatra, Doris Day and other stars? Here you are!

THERE’S A RISING MOON
(Sammy Cain / Paul Francis Webster)
Recorded by: Doris Day; Phyllis Ford

There’s a rising moon for every falling star
Makes no difference just how sad or blue you are
One never knows about tomorrow
Just what another day may bring
One moment in your heart it’s Winter
Comes a rose and suddenly it’s Spring
There’ll be times of sorrow; there’ll be times of joy
And a bright tomorrow for each girl and boy
Who knows what happiness is waiting
Just a kiss away from where you are
There’s a rising moon for every falling star

Somewhere In Time@The Movie Theater Mall

When talking about “Somewhere In Time” people will find these words—“Beyond fantasy. Beyond obsession. Beyond time itself….he will find her. What do you think? I’ve found many criticisms about this movie. Here are samples:

*The movie surrounds its love story with such boring mumbo jumbo about time travel that we finally just don't care.

* While Somewhere In Time was trounced by jaded critics, the fans knew better, and the film found its own audience, despite being in theatres for only 3 weeks, or less in some areas. It did its own marketing, by word of mouth, and via the medium of cable, which started showing the film when cable stations were brand new avenues of film offering. Cable stations found themselves deluged with letters, asking for the movie to be run again, and again. Consequently, the studio belatedly realized how much the movie was loved.

* Somewhere In Time is one of the most rented films of its age and time. Many people report that they have gone to their video store to rent it, only to find it checked out, time after time. It continues to sell on video among Universal's biggest blockbuster movies, including E.T. and Jaws.

But what I got from Wikipedia is timeline that makes me confuse. And all critics are nothing for me at all even though I’ve watched this movie for several times. Consider the followings:
1912
-Thursday, June 27: Richard wakes up at the Grand Hotel and meets Elise near the lake.
-Friday, June 28: Richard invites Elise to go on a walk with him. Later that night, he attends her play.
-Saturday, June 29: Richard finds a 1979 penny in his pocket and wakes up. He also leaves behind his pocket watch.
1972
-May 19: Elise returns the pocket watch to Richard. She also returns home and dies of old age.
1980
-Richard stays at the Grand Hotel and falls in love with Elise's picture.
-Richard hypnotizes himself to go back to 1912.
-Richard wakes up from 1912 and tries to go back, but can't.
-Richard dies from a broken heart in his room days later.

Who can tell me where should Richard Collier be after 1912? Would he die somewhere along that way and be re-born as Richard Collier again around late 50s or early 60s? Maybe you’ll find the answer HERE!

Richard Collier<=>Christopher Reeve
Elise McKenna<=>Jane Seymour

Ipod@The Movie Theater Mall

For years, many people who are only users have felt so frustrated about ipod. All they want are just to watch movies as well as to rip their DVDs to such format that are playable on their ipod. As we may know “Simple is the best”, and there are many ipod movies download-sites in the market. Most “users” don’t like complicated processes. Most people are usually wondering which site is great in terms of usability, pricing and services.

I am one of such users and I spent time to find the simple one. The following are what I got from this site:

Roman Holiday@The Movie Theater Mall

Someone said that it's not an exaggeration to say that Audrey Hepburn is the most universally beloved actress who ever worked in Hollywood. Another said that she played the princess in "Roman Holiday" as if by natural right and won an Academy Award for this role.
Yes, she caught the eye of Hollywood, and soon scored her Oscar-winning role in Roman Holiday (1953). People know all the time she was an instant star, presenting a wonderful contrast to other contemporary actresses who were more likely to be blonde, buxom, and sexy in a less-than-cerebral way.
But she’s gone forever!
I envy whoever gets her. As Elizabeth Taylor said the day Audrey died “God has a beautiful new angle now”
Let’s bring back our memories HERE!
